World's Children meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
To provide support and education for orphans and
vulnerable children in the poorest countries around the world.
Year, State Incorporated:
2006, OR
World's Children (WC) provides
direct support to children living in orphanages and group homes through three
main programs: Sponsorship, Scholarships, and Special Projects for Children.
They also assist in disaster relief efforts when needed.
Where They Work: In 2022, World's Children has sponsorship programs or
special projects in India, Ethiopia and Guatemala.
Sponsorship Program: The World's Children sponsorship program works because
there is a one-to-one relationship with a real person who cares and wants to
see that child succeed. Their sponsored children come from traumatic
backgrounds. To World's Children they aren't just numbers, they're real kids
with smiling faces and bright futures ahead.
Scholarship Program: Scholarship students receive funding to help with the
cost of a college degree or vocational training. Most college scholarship
recipients are the first in their families to finish high school. The vast
majority of scholarship students are young women. Education, especially for
girls and young women, is vital in the global fight against poverty.
Special Projects for Children: World's Children provides a helping hand to
homes in need of essential repairs, upgrades, or other special projects to
improve living conditions or overall quality of life.
Disaster Relief: When disaster strikes, World's Children acts fast to get
much-needed funds on the ground with the help of trusted partners who
understand the urgent needs of the victims.
Prevention of Child Trafficking Program: World's Children is funding a
Prevention of Child Trafficking Project to educate men, women, and children
about how traffickers trick young women and abduct unwatched girls. The total
population reached in the first three years of the target was 151,000 people.
This project is being conducted in a particularly vulnerable area in India
for trafficking. The project has been extended for an additional three years
and is currently targeting three districts in Telangana, India with a total
population of 393,629 living in both rural and urban areas.
Monetary Breakdown of World's Children Program Services for 2021: Through the
child sponsorship program, World's Children sent monetary aid in the amount
of $281,670 for the care of approximately 813 children in 30 orphanages in
India, Ethiopia, and Guatemala. This support ensures that children living in
the orphanages the organization supports receive nutritious food, clean and
warm cloths, medical care, a good education, and a safe and loving
environment.
World's Children also provided 278 students with scholarships for a total of
$68,150. World's Children sent $46,845 for children's health needs to help
with covid-19 and other health needs. WC provided $149,553 for special
projects to improve the infrastructure at the children's homes and also
funded the Prevention of Child Trafficking Project in the amount of $14,142.
