Stated Purpose:
Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company provides performance and dance education.
Year, State Incorporated:
1972, UT
A resident of the Rose Wagner
Performing Arts Center, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, now in its 55th season, annually presents three home season fully-produced programs in Salt
Lake City with eleven performances. Each
of the three programs includes a one-hour, inexpensive Saturday matinee, the
Moving Parts Family Series. Additionally, it presents 11 free school matinees for up to 10,000 schoolchildren. Some Spanish narration is used as it strives to be more inclusive. Touring takes it everywhere from the remote corners of Utah, to Europe, and to Asia.
Its extensive
Education Program is sanctioned by, and partially funded by the Professional
Outreach Program to Schools (POPS), Utah State Board of Education. In the typical 2017-18 season, its Education Program impacted over 32,000
students and teachers at 131 public and charter schools in 18 Utah school
districts. In-school services
were 94% for Title 1 schools. Typically, 83% (36 of the
43) dancer weeks and 55% of its annual budget are dedicated to its Educational
Program for youth throughout the State.
With six dancers, the Company
continues to be at the forefront of the national “dance-scape,” commissioning
and presenting contemporary works to the residents of Utah by renowned and
emerging choreographers from New York City, Israel, Denmark, England, France,
