Concerts In Motion meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Stated Purpose:
Concerts in Motion is a New York-based 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Our mission is to reach the most vulnerable with first-rate concert performances and meaningful social engagement to relieve social isolation. Since 2009, we have provided uplifting music and engagement for older adults, veterans, individuals with disabilities, individuals with mental illness, individuals experiencing housing and food insecurity, and hospitalized patients of all ages. Every concert reaches recipients where they are, in their homes or facilities, with the music they love most. Our professional musicians’ roster represents 16 musical genres and speaks 17 languages, and is trained in the Person-Centered Trauma-Informed Care Approach. Our enrollment of student volunteers spans 60 school partners, a range of musical styles, and all stages of study. No matter how remote the location, we can provide diverse and eclectic music genres to all five New York City boroughs, Westchester, and Long Island.

Year, State Incorporated:
2009, NY

We partner with 123 service agencies throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester, and on Long Island to reach people who would not otherwise have access to first-rate, live music. Our roster of artists include 75 of the city's most talented and kind professional musicians and 200 caring youth performers who, like the professional musicians, come to us because they want to give back to the community with their music. We provide private concerts for people who are homebound and group concerts at settlement houses, senior centers, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, homeless shelters, and food pantries. We provide interactive concerts for people with physical and intellectual disabilities; this program includes a series for patients in Veterans Administration hospitals and a series designed to be accessible and welcoming to individuals with dementia and their caretakers. Through our Youth Program, student musicians from public, private, and charter schools perform in private homes and settlement houses as our professional musicians do, with the guidance of a professional facilitator vetted and trained to work with young people. We offer the PEAK (Performance, Education, Access, Knowledge) Enrichment Program to qualifying school groups free of charge. Before the pandemic, our combined programs presented 1,500 concerts to serve 25,000 annually.
