Endangered Wolf Center meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
"To preserve and protect Mexican wolves, red wolves and other wild canid species, with purpose and passion, through carefully managed breeding,
reintroduction and inspiring education programs."
Year, State Incorporated:
1971, MO
Also Known As:
Wild Canid Survival & Research Center
Nature depends on apex predators and keystone species to survive and thrive. Wolves are both, which is why the wild needs wolves. Essential to the health and balance of their ecosystems, these highly intelligent, family-oriented animals are some of the most polarizing on the planet. While wolves are appreciated and valued by many, sadly they have been feared, misunderstood, and hunted to near extinction throughout the world. For more than 50 years, the Endangered Wolf Center in St. Louis, Missouri, has worked to rewrite the story for wolves. Founded in 1971 by noted zoologist Marlin Perkins and his wife, Carol, our mission to preserve and protect endangered wolves is carried out with purpose and passion through carefully managed breeding, reintroduction to the wild, and inspiring education programs. The Endangered Wolf Center is a family-friendly destination that offers a variety of tours and educational programs tailored to children and adults. Visitors are welcome and can schedule a guided tour online or by phone.
