AniMeals meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
To save the hungry, the helpless, the lost, and
the little ones just struggling to survive; to house and feed as many animals
as possible; to ease the suffering of the weak and unloved.
Year, State Incorporated:
2006, MT
The Animal Food Bank supplements
the food needs of homeless animals that are housed and fed by shelters and
rescue groups. By providing food for animals in need, AniMeals helps free up
money for other critical needs, like medicine and surgeries. They also feed
pets of the homebound and disabled, supply food for the caregivers of feral cat
colonies and dogs living on the streets, primarily in western Montana.
The Kitten Foster Program fosters
an average 200 kittens a year, placing kittens in temporary homes while they
await their forever home. AniMeals pays for all of the food and supplies that
their foster families need to ensure the survival of their tiny charges.
The Homebound/Disabled Program is designed to assist the elderly, disabled and homebound
members of the community and their pets. Every month, over 130 seniors receive
food for their animals. Supplying pets with adequate daily meals makes it far
more likely that everyone in the household is eating their own nutritious food.
The Trap, Neuter, Return
(TNR) Program reduces feral
populations in our communities. Homes are found for young kittens, which can be
tamed. Adults are trapped, sterilized and returned to their familiar habitats
outdoors. Then, volunteer caregivers feed and look after them for the remainder
of their lives.
The Critical Care Program provides immediate, emergency veterinary care for homeless animals, by
referral.
The Families in Crisis Program can provide assistance for the animals of community
members in catastrophic circumstances.
The Honey Fund can assist
people who cannot afford veterinary expenses, whether it is basic or
catastrophic circumstances. This program ensures that pets gets the care they
need, and keeps them healthy and in the homes of the people who love them,
rather than being relinquished to a shelter or euthanized due to lack of
finances.
The Gaia’s Landing Program improves the chances for senior cats to find their forever homes by
removing barriers for adoption. AniMeals waives the adoption fees for cats 15+
years old and provides additional support by providing all their food and
litter, paying their veterinary expenses and any medications associated with
their care - for their lifetime.
Hospice provides end of life care in a home setting for
animals with terminal illness, where they can live out their last days with
dignity and comfort.
The Kitty Sponsorship Program encourages businesses and individuals to sponsor a
kitty in the shelter. Sponsors may name and provide care for a specific cat,
and their name or business name will be posted in connection with the cat,
until it has been adopted.
The Barn Cat Program is
a placement program for cats that cannot live as household companions but are excellent
additions to farms, stables, warehouses, feed stores or nurseries. These low
maintenance, independent working cats are healthy, spayed or neutered,
vaccinated and ear tipped. The program requires that cats are adopted in pairs,
given a safe outdoor home where shelter from the elements and harsh weather are
easily accessible, and daily fresh food and water.
The Seniors for Seniors Program pairs animals 11+ years old matched with people 60+. Adoption
fees are waived, food is provided and additional support is readily available.
Microchips are provided for free or at low cost ($8) to
help return lost pets including dogs, cat, ferrets and rabbits.
