Texarkana Animal League does not meet the following 2 Standards for Charity Accountability:
Standard 17 (Web Site Disclosures)
Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.
The charity does not meet this Standard because:
At time of annual assessment, organization’s financial disclosure information as specified by this standard was not available to donors at their website’s Donate page.
Standard 18 (Privacy for Written Appeals & Internet Privacy)
Address privacy concerns of donors by (a) providing in written appeals, at least annually, a means (e.g., such as a check off box) for both new and continuing donors to inform the charity if they do not want their name and address shared outside the organization, (b) providing a clear, prominent and easily accessible privacy policy on any of its websites that tells visitors (i) what information, if any, is being collected about them by the charity and how this information will be used, (ii) how to contact the charity to review personal information collected and request corrections, (iii) how to inform the charity (e.g., a check off box) that the visitor does not wish his/her personal information to be shared outside the organization, and (iv) what security measures the charity has in place to protect personal information.
The charity does not meet this Standard because:
While the organization's privacy policy is admirably extensive, at the time of annual assessment it did not yet include insight for visitors with regard to what security measures are in-place to protect the personal information that is gathered, such as from the volunteer application form.

Texarkana Animal League meets the remaining 2 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
Texarkana Animal League exists to provide protection and care for abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted companion animals. We also promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people.

TAL is a group of community-minded volunteers dedicated to improving the lives and welfare of animals. Because our organization is run mainly by volunteers, all proceeds directly benefit animal care and adoptions, and will assist with our community outreach programs such as a Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Foster Programs for cats and dogs, as well as educational and service projects to assist TAL’s belief that all animals are deserving of life, respect and care.
TAL is NOT the animal shelter nor are we connected to any governmental animal control unit, but we do support the Texarkana AR Animal Care & Adoption Center (our local shelter) in many ways, including financially and we assist area Animal Control Officers from both Texas and Arkansas whenever they contact us.
