Silver Lining Gary” is a dedicated initiative providing critical services to underserved impoverished pet families in Gary, Indiana. Through essential offerings such as free spay/neuter, microchips/vaccines, and TNR (trap, neuter, release), Silverstray addresses the pressing needs of marginalized families, fighting against economic and racial disparities. Our core belief is that the benefits and joy of the human-animal bond should be accessible to all. This program approaches families with pets as holistic units, fostering transformative change in Gary. By nurturing a culture of empathy through Silverstray, we lay the groundwork for a compassionate community that empowers families to thrive. Another important part of the program is partnerships casting a spotlight on often overlooked and underutilized services within the community. These vital connections serve as conduits, offering access to resources that address a spectrum of needs—from housing and utilities to issues related to homelessness, transportation, recovery, therapy, literacy, and beyond. Through these strategic alliances, we create a network that goes beyond the immediate scope of animal welfare, fostering a holistic approach that uplifts our community on multiple fronts.
