Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Stated Purpose:
Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston's (IM) mission is to bring people of diverse faith traditions together for dialogue, collaboration, and service, as a demonstration of our shared beliefs.

Year, State Incorporated:
1964, TX

Also Known As:
Meals on Wheels of Greater Houston

IM has three main programs: Senior Services, Refugee Services, and Interfaith Relations.

IMs MOWGH program helps feed over 4,000 homebound seniors in Harris and surrounding counties. IM delivers nutritious, fully prepared meals five days a week to seniors over 60 that are unable to provide this for themselves due to physical disabilities or chronic illness. Depending on the frailty of the senior, breakfast and weekend meals are also provided. Over 1,000 of our seniors currently receive this support. In addition to the daily meals, IM provides pet food through the aniMeals on Wheels program to the seniors with beloved pets. This program ensures that both the seniors and their companions receive the nutrition that they need. Another component of the MOWGH program is the social services department. The department provides our seniors with donated items, such as walkers, and referrals to other organizations if necessary. Through the nutritious meals provided and the MOWGH programs social services department, our communitys seniors are able to maintain a high quality of life and remain in their homes.

IMs Refugee Services (RS) resettles thousands of recently arrived refugees into the Houston community each year. IM serves refugees from all over the world who have fled their homeland in fear of political, social, and/or religious persecution. Working in conjunction with the U.S. State Department and organizations such as Episcopal Migration Ministries and Church World Service, IM seeks to provide these refugees with a safe and prosperous future. In addition, IM serves walk-in refugees from Cuba that receive asylum when they cross into the United States. RS provides these refugees with adequate housing, school enrollment for their children, and assistance with job placement. Cultural orientation and English Language support is also provided to help ease their transition into the community. All of these services strive to provide refugees with the tools they need to become self-sufficient members of the community.

IMs Interfaith Relations (IR) promotes healthy and respectful relationships between people of various faith traditions through interfaith learning experiences for people of all ages. IR offers a multitude of opportunities for interfaith learning and dialogue through programs such as annual Dinner Dialogues, where members of our diverse community come together to share and learn from each other over a meal, and youth programs where young adults are empowered to be confident, respectful and engaged leaders.
