One Community One Family meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
"The mission of One Community One Family is: partnering with families, individuals, and unaccompanied youth
moving through homelessness to strengthen life skills and achieve safe,
sustainable housing."
Year, State Incorporated:
2017, CO
One Community One Family had two distinct programs, both assisting those currently homeless back into permanent housing. The One Community One Family program is where it takes a team of community volunteers and matches them with a participant going through homelessness. Both the team members and participant have to have background checks. Volunteers are required to commit to at least 6 months, meeting one time a month each month plus two additional meetings, and attend a 2 hour training around the program goals/structure, cultural awareness of poverty/homelessness, and some other pieces. Both have to agree and demonstrate a willingness to be in the program. The participants have to have income for this program.
For other program, Rapid Re-Housing (RRH), participants do not need income, but they do have to complete an assessment tool called the Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (SPDAT) and be put on the Coordinated Access and Housing Placement System (CAHPS) list. If they get a score of 0-3, no housing resources are offered. Depending on the population, the category changes for RRH qualifiers (4-7 for individuals and youth, 4-8 for families). Anything above this puts people in the category for Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), and these people would not be good candidates for our program. Participants still have to complete a background check, and they cannot have any violent or sexual offenses on their record. Those offenses apply to both programs. We also complete a credit check where people can identify what is on their credit report, and ways for them to improve their credit.
