Hudson Highlands Land Trust meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
We conserve and care for the lands and waters of the Hudson Highlands so that people and nature can flourish together for generations to come.
Year, State Incorporated:
1989, NY
Our mission supports a vision of the Hudson Highlands where wildlife thrives in a healthy, connected, climate-resilient landscape and people enjoy equitable access to natures benefits.
We cannot achieve this vision alone. HHLT engages in inclusive and creative partnerships across the Highlands region to ensure we address the interconnected needs of the human and natural communities we serve.
Education and Outreach: we engage our local communities in our conservation mission through outreach programming and events.
Land Conservation and Stewardship: we partner with private landowners on conservation easements to protect properties from future development. We own and manage five properties including three preserves that are open to the public. We work with New York State, the National Park Service, and conservation partners to additional land in our mission area.
Regional Advocacy and Public Policy: we work with municipalities and collaborates with partners across the Hudson Highlands region on issues of conservation planning and land use.
New York Highlands Network: we partner with conservation organizations, neighbors, and landowners to create green corridors to protect wildlife across the New York Highlands.
Community Partnerships: we work with conservation organizations, government agencies, municipalities and local communities.
Creating Outdoor Access: we manage three preserves, partnering with other conservation organizations, local government, and state agencies to make them accessible and welcoming to people of all ages.
