Fountain House meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
Our mission is to create the community, innovation, and social change needed for people most impacted by mental illness to lead connected and healthy lives.
Year, State Incorporated:
1948, NY
Fountain House takes a public health approach to serious mental illness. We address both the health and social needs of our members through an integrated model that connects our physical clubhouse – where members are engaged in an innovative therapeutic community rooted in Social Practice, and take steps in reclaiming their agency and dignity – with access to clinical support, housing, and care management. Our College Re-Entry and young adult programming focuses on early intervention and prevention of isolation and its health, social and economic effects. Our policy and advocacy work is shaping a national mental health policy agenda, from how we respond to mental health emergencies, to addressing systemic barriers that people with serious mental illness face every day.
