The National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) reports that its research program directs and funds research to find safe, effective treatments, and a cure for alopecia areata. The organization's support group network allows individuals and families to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. NAAF’s Youth Mentor program helps children and teens with alopecia areata build confidence by pairing them with mentors who also have alopecia areata. Through webinars and an annual conference, the organization educates individuals affected by alopecia areata about their options for living with the disease. The Walk For Alopecia and Alopecia Areata Awareness Month, which both occur in September, provide opportunities to bring people together and amplify the voices of those living with the disease.
