Also Known As:
Alzheimer's Disease Research Foundation
Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (CAF) reports that it provides funding to scientists throughout the world investigating the causes and impacts of Alzheimer’s disease. Discoveries made using the organization’s funds include the role of genetics through the Alzheimer’s Genome Project; the positive and negative effects of lifestyle factors, including exercise, diet, sleep, and air pollution; tools to assist with evaluating potential use in treating Alzheimer’s disease with existing approved drugs; the dual role of beta-amyloid; and other potential diagnostic measurement tools. CAF’s consortia model supports new standalone grants, while also supporting larger-scale investigations within specific areas of the science. The model works to expand collaboration and share information across institutions and subdisciplines. CAF consortiums currently focus research on Alzheimer’s disease tau, Fleming APOE gene, Brain Entry and Exit, Microbiome, Neuroimmune, and Brain Aging.
