BBB Wise Giving Alliance’s canine campaigner, Obi, is pictured above reviewing the latest Wise Giving Guide magazine which includes a summary chart of national charity evaluations. He reminds you that BBB WGA is a charity itself and needs your support to further its work of strengthening public confidence in charities by promoting wise giving and trustworthy charity practices.
While Obi is most interested in animal welfare charities, such as the greyhound rescue organization that arranged his adoption with a BBB WGA staff member, he knows that he can find charity reports on a variety of causes on Give.org. From disaster relief to health issues, from children’s causes to veterans’ services, we develop reports on the most-asked-about charities to help you identify trustworthy charities that meet the BBB Charity Standards. Our evaluations are thorough and always involve personal contact with the charity not only to help them understand any deficiencies discovered in our analysis but to explain what they can do to change their practices so that they can meet our standards should they fall short.
Our Give.org website features a number of additional activities to help educate contributors, such as the weekly Heart of Giving Podcast featuring BBB WGA President & CEO Art Taylor. Obi’s favorite episode is last week’s podcast which includes a detailed interview with Kitty Block, President & CEO, of the Humane Society of the United States (a BBB Accredited Charity.)
Also, our latest Donor Trust Report includes the results of a survey of 2,100 adults across the United States. Obi is especially proud that the public perceives animal welfare organizations as being tied with religious charities as the third most trusted category of charities.
