In the first episode of our Inspiring Collaboration Video Series, we chat with Jeff Burkhart, Executive Director, Literacy Network. This organization serves approximately 1,000 low-income adults each year in Dane County, Wisconsin. With more than 500 annual volunteers, they help adults achieve their goals through personalized education services and support.

Goodwill Industries International

Goodwill® is the leading nonprofit provider of job training and placement services in North America. Last year, local Goodwill organizations collectively served more than 1 million individuals worldwide and helped more than 126,000 people train for careers in industries such as banking, IT, and health care, to name a few and get the supportive services they needed to be successful, such as English language training, additional education, and access to transportation and childcare.

E3 Alliance: Employers Ending Exploitation

 

E3 Alliance is a collaborative of nonprofits, businesses, and governments working together to leverage the collective power of the private sector to eradicate sex trafficking. E3 Alliance is an initiative of Global Communities, formerly PCI. They provide human trafficking prevention training for employees from every business and every industry.

Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation

 

The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation's mission is to educate Iowans, with a focus on youth, regarding the breadth and global significance of agriculture. The foundation is a coordinated, statewide approach by business, education, and the agriculture industry, designed to augment and aggregate existing agriculture education efforts while encouraging new efforts that promote agriculture literacy in Iowa schools. IALF's overall goal is to serve as a centralized resource to help increase the knowledge and awareness of today's agriculture and its importance among students.


The Sub Zero Mission collects coats, boots, hats, gloves, and sleeping bags (our "Stay Alive 5") in warmer months to be distributed in the winter directly to homeless people who do not make it into shelters. We help every person we find, but we are looking for veterans among the homeless. We work to put veterans back into contact with programs specialized to get them off of the streets permanently.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. NCMEC works with families, victims, private industry, law enforcement, and the public to assist with preventing child abductions, recovering missing children, and providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation.

RedRover works to to bring animals out of crisis and strengthen the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering, disaster relief services, financial assistance and education.

Many Hands for Haiti works, through Jesus Christ, to transform and serve Haitian families and local communities. The organization's projects include education, farming, home rebuilding, medical services, sewing programs, and spiritual development. 

DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that works to make it easier for anyone to help students in need. Public school teachers from all over America post classroom project requests on their site, and individuals can give any amount to the project of their choosing.

YMCA of the USA is the national resource office for the nation's 2,700 local YMCAs, which serve to strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The organization reports that it delivers financial and in-kind awards and grants to local YMCAs, with the aim to strengthen YMCA programs and community service.

Good+ Foundation partners with a national network of programs to break the multi-generational cycle of family poverty through the power of donated goods and services. The organization provides children ages 0-14 with essential children's gear, clothing, and products while their parents get needed services to strengthen the entire family.

The Mona Foundation aims to support programs that help students excel academically and intellectually, and develop their capabilities to serve and foster change within their communities. The Foundation focuses on three key areas access, empowering women and girls, and teacher training.

Good Shepherd Ministries of Oklahoma (GSMO) reports that it provides free healthcare for low-income, uninsured Oklahomans. Medical care services include primary and specialty referrals, counseling, diabetic testing, nutrition services, dental services, medical interpreters, and prescription medications.

Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation's principal activities focus on two core areas advancing the care of paralysis and funding research to develop treatments for spinal cord injury. The organization's Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) is a constellation of national programs and services aimed to improve quality of life and increase independence for individuals living with paralysis and mobility impairment.

Save The music Foundation assists instrumental music programs in America's public schools by providing grants of musical instruments, workshops, and raising public awareness about the importance of music education.

Child Abuse Council works in Illinois and Iowa towards keeping children safe and building strong families. The organization puts an emphasis on assisting children from infancy to five years old. 

Giraffe Heroes Project reports that through storytelling and training they inspire and support people to take action to solve significant public problems. 

Haiti Partners centers its work on Haitian education through two primary avenues schools and holistic churches.

Family Reach Foundation (FRF) aims to alleviate the financial burden of cancer for patients and their families. Through a process developed in collaboration with hospital social workers, the Family Relief and Support program provides assistance to families. 

Health Volunteers Overseas works to address the global health workforce crisis by implementing programs that meet the needs of the host country and institutions, are sustainable, and build local capacity.

Love146 works to end child trafficking and exploitation through survivor care and prevention through its offices in Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Animal Legal Defense Fund operates litigation, criminal justice and animal law programs to stop the abuse of companion animals as well as animals in industries such as factory farming and the entertainment business.

Children's Tumor Foundation raises funds for medical research into Neurofibromatosis through its NF Walk, NF Endurance, and Racing4Research events.

Dress for Success works toward the ultimate goal of equipping women to be financially independent. They provide clothing, pre-employment skill building, workforce development, employment retention and advancement, and other services.

Global Impact provides services for workplace fundraising campaigns to generate funding for an alliance of more than 100 international charities.

MGFA provides those withmyasthenia Gravis and their loved ones with information, education and support. They engage in patient advocacy activities, provide support to support groups, and fund research projects.

MPN Research Foundation supports research that will help scientists understand three blood disorders: polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, andmyelofibrosis. They are also developing a national registry of patients to track clinical care and outcome.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation supports programs and services that secure,manage, and distribute resources to improve the lives of veterans,military service personnel, their families and the communities in which they live.

GlobalGiving transforms aid and philanthropy to accelerate community-led change. It helps donors make safe and easy donations to vetted, locally-driven organizations around the world.

Partnership With Native Americans serves the immediate needs and supports long-term solutions for strong, self-sufficient Native American communities. It provides consistent aid and services for Native Americans with the highest need in the U.S.

Humane Society Silicon Valley saves and enhances lives, both the two-legged and four-legged. It is the first organization in the country to meet the guidelines put forth by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians for standards of care for shelter animals making it the first model shelter.

America’s Charities helps the nation'smost trusted charities thrive by generating sustainable income through workplace giving and additional paths. Since 1980, it has been at the forefront of workplace giving's transformation.

The Academy of American Poets to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry. Each year, the charitable organization connects millions of readers to poets' work with its many programs and publications.

International Fund for Animal Welfare rescues animals in crisis from both natural and human-caused threats and rehabilitates animals with the goal of returning them to secure landscapes.
