Volunteers of America does not meet the following 2 Standards for Charity Accountability:
Standard 16 (Annual Report)
Have an annual report available to all, on request, that includes: (a) the organization's mission statement, (b) a summary of the past year's program service accomplishments, (c) a roster of the officers and members of the board of directors, (d) financial information that includes (i) total income in the past fiscal year, (ii) expenses in the same program, fund raising and administrative categories as in the financial statements, and (iii) ending net assets.
VOA does not meet this Standard because the 2022 annual report did not include:
- The organization's financial information for the year ended June 30, 2022.
Standard 17 (Web Site Disclosures)
Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.
VOA does not meet this Standard because the organization’s website, https://www.voa.org/, does not include all of the recommended information for those charity websites that solicit for donations. Specifically, it does not include:
- Electronic access to the organization’s IRS Form 990 for the year ended June 30, 2021.

Volunteers of America (VOA) reports that it is a faith-based organization working to help those in need live healthy, safe, and productive lives. The organization works to support America’s most marginalized groups, including veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, at-risk youth, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, and individuals recovering from addictions. VOA states that it operates programs in more than 400 communities across 46 states, serving more than 1.5 million individuals annually. Programs offered include affordable housing, behavioral and mental health services, community outreach and investment services, correctional re-entry services, family-focused treatment, senior services, and substance abuse recovery programs. The national organization distributes grants to its 31 local affiliates, VOA National Services, and related housing and healthcare entities that offer VOA's programs to address local community needs.
