Stated Purpose
?to locate, secure, and apply skills and resources to alleviate suffering, restore hope, and create conditions that nurture stability in countries affected by conflict.?
The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) reports that it helps war-torn countries help themselves. In order to do so, MLI runs two types of programs: Mine Action and Social Impact. The organization reports that its Mine Action programs provide landmine-affected countries with resources and training to remove landmines and address their long-term impact. Such programs include training and delivering mine detection dogs and explosive detection dogs to mine-affected countries, providing support and resources to mine explosion survivors, and educating youth on these international issues. MLI states that its Social Impact programs help rebuild peace, promote leadership among youth, and work to empower women and improve their role in society. In 2018, the organization reports it educated 8,425 children on mine risks, provided medical assistance, prosthetic limbs, and vocational training to 219 landmine survivors, and added 17 dogs to Mine Detection Dog Partnership program.
