National Osteoporosis Foundation meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) reports that it works to prevent osteoporosis and broken bones, promote strong bones for life and reduce human suffering through programs of public and clinician awareness, education, advocacy, and research. The organization's ?Break Free from Osteoporosis? national awareness campaign is an effort to educate the public about osteoporosis risk factors and change lifestyles to build strong bones. BoneSource, NOF's professional program, provides tools, resources, and education opportunities for healthcare professionals who provide bone health care. The organization's Healthy Bones: Healthy Communities program hosts two-day osteoporosis trainings for family practices, internal medicine, and obstetrics/gynecology providers so that they may provide in-community healthcare and train other healthcare providers. NOF also hosts a patient registry which analyzes anonymous, patient-reported information to map the patient journey and identify patients? wants and needs. In 2019, the organization reports it attracted more than 700,000 new website visitors, received nearly 530 respondents to the patient registry survey, and held its first two Healthy Bones: Healthy Communities programs in Houston and Boston. Some ($54,571 or 2%) of NOF's program activities are carried out in conjunction with fundraising appeals.
